Hi
You will find that most jobs advertised in China are in private language schools. These are run as a business and charge students for their English lessons. One of the things that many Far Eastern countries are notorious for is wishing to have an 'English' looking and sounding English teacher. This is often why they ask for a native English speaker. If you have an 'English' teacher in the school then the school charges more for their English lessons - simple as that.
There are still many opportunities for non 'English' teachers in China and you will often find that those, like yourself, that have learnt English as a second language already, make better teachers.
You will find more info at www.uk-tefl.com
Good luck!

There are oppurtunities for you here in China but unfortunately your Asian background will count against you in the eyes of Chinese employers. There are websites like the esl teachers board or daves esl cafe you can search for work but you will find that Chinese schools will offer you much less pay and worse conditions than they do white teachers.

On the basis of the excellent written English shown by your Question, coupled with your other qualifications and experience, I see no reason why you should not obtain a teaching post in China. My advice would be to reply to the English teaching advertisements which appear on the Internet and see what transpires. As an alternative, you might consider asking your 'China based' acquaintances to make enquiries on your behalf.
NOTE. Regarding your comment that only native speakers of English seem to be wanted... this is nothing to do with being 'qualified people of God', but more to do with language schools, universities, etc., wishing to employ teachers whose accents are as pure as possible. I have several Chinese friends who are fluent in English, but it would not be fair on students to let my friends teach English pronunciation!
Good luck with your search for a job.
