Can Anyone Recommend A Good Englishmandarin Dictionary?

Published by David.Ge at 1:35 am under Study Chinese In China

It’s a gift for an adult with intermediate-level skills, going to China to study the language further. Ideally the dictionary would go both to and from Chinese.
Thank you!

I assume that your friend will be going to mainland china…simplified chinese….for that I’d recommend
the Oxford Starter Chinese Dictionary…good for intermediates…I still use it after 10 years of study because it uses example sentence of the words…ISBN # 0-19-860258-8.
but if you want something more sophisticated with traditional as well as simplified chinese then try concise chinese dictionary isbn #0 19 591151 2——but this is a more difficult dictionary to use…but more useful because it has radical indices to chinese characters….something you’ll need if you are trying to read characters.
    hope this helps.
