Us Citizen Marrying A Chinese And Staying In China?

Published by David.Ge at 1:19 am under About China And Chinese

About to pick up and move to Canton to teach english. I know of some friends who have married and came back to the USA after years of teaching english. What if I like it enough to stay in china? Is it easier or harder to permanently stay in china VS. USA after getting married? Anyone done this?

I know some people who have decided to stay in China. Once you are married, you can get a 1 year visitor visa (family visit) multiple entry. It costs about 800RMB. As far as I know, you can do this for as long as you wish to stay.
Of course, it is not legal to work in China while on a visitor’s visa, so if you plan to earn a salary, then I suggest getting a residence permit.
The Guangzhou visa office is at:
Renmin Nan Lu, Chu Ru Jing Dasha, 6th floor
    人民南路出入境大厦6楼

i know several couples… well, being married to a Chinese citizen makes possible to get a family visa, which helps to get the residence permit and allows working… you can call it “easier to permanently stay in China”…

Not even a problem. Stay as long as you want. Just finish the formalities, that’s all.
