Chinese: How Do You Think China Can Regain Its Mao Era Glory?

Published by David.Ge at 7:21 pm under About China And Chinese

I saw some of the photos during the Mao’s Cultural Revolution. I saw everyone smiling, big green rice fields, a prosperous and happy China at the time of Mao.
But I see lot of poverty today in China. What are you doing to regain the lost glory?

Those were fake pictures, communist propaganda.

Yes, and then the photographer left, and the repression started up again.
As an overseas Chinese, I would not consider the era of Mao to be his finest moment. A great man for sure, just horribly misguided policies.
I will come to China’s defense regarding the “poverty” you mentioned. I’m not sure where you are looking. Considering that only 40 years ago 20 million people died from starvation, I think it’s a remarkable accomplishment to achieve so much in such a short span.

    Don’t be utterly ridiculous!
The photos of smiling people was propaganda. The truth was very different.
Millions died from starvation because of Mao’s policies. Many millions more died in the Cultural Revolution launched by a paranoid Mao.
The average income in real terms today is much higher than in Mao’s time. No one in China wants to go back there.
Get some facts before you ask idiotic questions.

first , sorry to say that you dont know china well . you see a lot of poverty today in China ? how can you see them from ? and i am now living in the middle south of china and it’s kind of a poor province in china called GangXi . and i even dont see the poverty in my daily life , then how can you ?
second , if you see the poverty from the Series . then you should think about it , people here in china like to watch some Costume drama , and those wont show you the true thing in our real life .and it’s just about the past , and maybe 1000 years ago.
third , no one want to go back to the Mao’s time , and that is the terrible time in our history , and what you saw in the picture is just some corner not the whole things .
forth, dont believe the media, because whether the media choose the a thing to be a news or not is just based on whether this things is extreme or not . and it’s not at the average side . and when you see one poor family , you will think that our average people in china are all poor

What Mao era glory? You should actually *Read* something about how things were during the cultural revolution. As a whole Chinese people are much better off today. Twenty million people starved to death under Mao, that doesn’t include all the people he executed.

Bullshit, Under mao millions died, if china never had mao, they would of been democratic and have greater economic progress.

Too many mixed answers. Get your answer from a real Chinese such as myself.
To regain Mao era glory, you need another revolution and prominent figure.
