Would It Be Difficult For Me To Learn Japanese When I Already Know A Little Of Chinese (mandarin)?

Published by David.Ge under Study Chinese In China

i did a two year course in high school learning mandarin chinese, now deciding on university im very keen on a course that offers a year abroad in japan (if they offered a year in china there wouldnt be a problem) so the problem is, would it be very hard for me to move from chinese to japanese (university offers a compulsory japanese language course with the subject i will be studying)?
i understand kanji is similar to chinese (if not the same) but does it sound the same in both languages? when does hiragana and katakana come in?

Case Studies On Consumer Product Sales In China?

Published by David.Ge under Study Chinese In China

I’m trying to find case studies of U.S. companies that have attempted to sell directly to Chinese consumers, including through partnering with or contracting to local firms in China. I’ve found lots of high-level articles about companies selling into China, and general articles from places like Forbes, but not detailed case studies. Thanks for your help in finding them.

Question For Anyone Who Has Learned To Speak Mandarin Outside Of China. Like At University.?

Published by David.Ge under Study Chinese In China

I taught English in China for a year after high school and I fell in love with the country. Now i’m back in Canada, 2 and a half years later and i’ve decided to go to University to get a B.A. Majoring in Asian studies. I want to learn to speak Mandarin at school.
When I lived in China, I picked up on a lot of the language because I heard it all the time, and I could get around on my own without any issues. I think Mandarin is such a beautiful language. I don’t remember most of what I learned now that I’ve been back in Canada for a while, but I want to study really hard at school and master it.
I’m a little worried that it will be pointless to study this Chinese language in a Canadian University because maybe somehow it won’t be the same as they speak in China or whatever.
I realize that practically everywhere in China speaks a little differently than each other. Like different accent and stuff.
I want to know from people who haved learned to speak Mandarin in North America, or anywhere else really… and are you able to communicate fluently with Mandarin speaking Chinese people?
I want to move back to China forever when i’m done school. Possibly open a business or something, but I think I should master the language first.
