This is only a topic for a school debate. I am not slamming the Chinese, I would just like opinions.
Thankyou

Virtually, if not literally, every nation on this earth has a history of abusing one group or another, often its own citizens,so as to deny them what might be sidered as their rights, liberties and justice.
Even the United States is still in the on going process of establishing civil rights for persons of all colors, creeds, ideologies, religious bliefs, sexaul orientations and nationalities within its own borders.
These are the very human rights which many decry the mainland, Communist Chinese government of denying to its own citizens and to the Tibetan peoples in particular.
In this instance, it is obviouls hipocracy for the US of A and some other Western nations to act as they are as it is truly a case of “the pot calling the kettle black”. Until these nations all “clean up their own back yards” they have no legitimate right to condemn nor sanction others for doing what they themselves have done and are doing.
Another point is that the Western nations are judging other nations by the ideals of the standards of the West and not seeing each nation as an individual and through the cultural sense of morals, ethics and tradtions that are indeginous to those peoples and cultures.
Finally, even His Hoiness, the XIV Dalia Lama has openly and publically expressed his opinion that the Olympic Games to be held in China should not be used in such a political manner nor be boycotted.
(This one would refer the poster to the book, “Ethics for a New Millennium”, by His Holiness, the XIV Dalia Lama as to how he believes all nations hould work together and how positive changes can be brought about which will be beneifical to all peoples.)
These are “human” right issues.
Huanitarian refers to assisting others who are in great need usually due to natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, droughts, fires, famines, plagues and earthquakes and the effects the same may have upon the populations that have experienced the same, such as the people of the southern US and especially New Orleans as well as the people of Shichuan Provence in China.
As to this historic record, China is now showing the world how well it is utilizing its man power and resources so as to deal with the after effects of the recent earthquake which has displaced millions, killed many thousands and injured even more. China is to be applauded for how well it is dealing with this, unlike the US and its handling of the after effects of Hurricane Katrina which, many years later, has not been resolved.
It is perhaps a wiser course of action to deal openly and honestly with all peoples and nations working towards the mutual benenfit of all persons without judgment or condemnation seeing what is for what it is and not clouding the same by ones personal subjective opinions.
Be well.

yes of course, why shouldn’t they?
didn’t Great Britain hold the olympics in 1908
after Anglo-Saxon king Ethelred II ordered the killing of all Danes living in England.
and Royalist forces killed many of the town’s defenders and citizens in Bolton.
and Government soldiers, mainly from Clan Campbell, killed members of the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe
and Armed cavalry charged a peaceful pro-democracy meeting of 60,000 people in manchester.
and British Indian Army soldiers, led by Brigadier Reginald Dyer fired at unarmed civilians in India during a peaceful demonstration
not to mention slavery, the slaughtering of the zulus and the english interests during the crusades.

Sure, why not? Our human rights are far from good. Have you noticed how many homeless people we have. I dare you to live under a bridge for a month with no money. I bet you wouldn’t last a week. You stink so bad, your stomach would be in knots from hunger. You’d probably end up in jail for begging for money for food. After begging didn’t work you might have stoop so low as steal for food. Now your in prison. We have more people in prison than any country in the world. This is the way we treat our veterans that have served our country also. I never hear KENT STATE mentioned anymore where poeple were killed for opposing the government. 2 million people are expected to be thrown out of their homes this year alone for the god almighty U.S.DOLLAR.
